Kim Acheson, CIC

Agent & Vice President

Kim graduated with a marketing degree before launching her career in insurance. Starting out at Liberty Mutual, she eventually found her home at Sentry Insurance where she became an integral part of the sales/management team and a highly valued mentor within the company. When Sentry restructured its strategy for selling personal lines policies in 2012, they made an unprecedented decision to sell Kim her personal lines book, acknowledging the strong relationships she built while at Sentry with both management and clients. Shortly after, Kim joined Robertson Ryan, expanding her insurance solutions and services offered to her ever-growing client base, which includes commercial and personal insurance products, and one of her favorite offers, life and disability.

Kim’s family has always been first and foremost to her. In 2021, her daughter, MK Christensen (Acheson) became her business partner following several years as a Commercial Lines Underwriter. Her son currently has his own music production company where he writes and performs his own music, while living in Australia.

Kim continually looks for ways to share her knowledge and life lessons with her kids and her clients. Kim currently serves as a judge at the state level collegiate DECA competitions and for the writing competition at the AIP Book Festival. Kim is a strong believer in continuing her education as well and received her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.

A daily gym enthusiast, Kim also prides herself in her fly fishing skills, catching the 5^th largest fish in 2005 at Henry’s Fork in Idaho! Kim is also an avid golfer and manages a women’s golf league.  She loves to travel to far off destinations, exploring cities and countries across the globe and admits that the ocean “feeds her soul”. She is an accomplished author in an anthology, and is currently working on future publications.

MK Christensen (Acheson)

Agent & Vice President

MK grew up in Wisconsin, with a wonderful family and absolutely no desire to go into the insurance industry. Her mom, Kim, had been selling insurance since before MK was born, and they always joked that no one grows up dreaming about going into the insurance industry. That was certainly true for her.

MK went to college at Drake University in Des Moines and graduated with an English degree. An unplanned chat with a staff member at Drake led to her getting a paid internship at an insurance company in West Des Moines. She had no intention of staying there but believed it would be a good thing to do while searching for other jobs. After just a few weeks she was offered a full time job…in the underwriting department at the company she was interning for.  She accepted, loved it and that was the beginning of her journey into insurance.

In 2017 MK decided that she wanted to move back to Wisconsin to be closer to her family, and accepted a commercial underwriting position with a Wisconsin based company. That position was incredibly hands-on, and taught her a lot of valuable skills. She got to spend time talking to agents, clients and visiting clients at their locations and it was through those interactions that she realized that while she loved the process of underwriting, she wanted a job that let her say “yes” instead of “no.”

At that point, she accepted the inevitable – it was time to continue the family tradition. She took the plunge and started working on the sales side with her mother, and hasn’t looked back! She loves learning more about the world through her clients’ lives, and being able to offer guidance and confidence to them in the form of risk management.

MK and her husband Kiefer have 2 cats, Allegro and Adagio. Her hobbies include football (playing and watching!), quilting, baking, cooking, reading, and anything that lets her spend time with her family and friends.
